I grew up in a small rural town in upstate New York where to this day I think lazy summer days on Cayuga Lake is one of life's best offerings. After graduating High School I continued my education by attending Rochester Institute of Technology where I earned an my Associates Degree Applied Science before changing gears a little and spending the next two years studying Food Marketing. It was during those years that I first discovered I suffered from a condition called endometriosis and also found my calling as a healer.
While attending RIT I took a job as a Chiropractic assistant where the doctor taught me how to apply massage to patients giving them great relief from muscle pain and the ability to receive better chiropractic adjustments. My time with Dr. Drucilla Estey at Henrietta Chiropractic was life changing. Thanks to her, I knew I was destined to help people feel better.
After graduation, I moved to Long Island, New York where I met my husband and attended The New Center College for Wholistic Health, now known as The New York College for Health Professionals. My years in Long Island were filled with ups and downs both in weight and health as the pain from my endometriosis at times consumed my daily life. While I was happy in my personal life, I still did not know how to eat in a way that was nourishing. In fact it was it was at the age of 22 that I was advised by a young doctor to "just get a hysterectomy" to end my pain. Advice 3 boys later I was grateful I chose NOT to take (or even consider). It was not long after I discovered the Atkins diet and how it eliminated my endo symptoms. While not an eating lifestyle for me, I did make the connection that how I ate would determine how I felt. One would think "connection made, studied holistic approach to the body equals permanent healthy lifestyle......". Well, one would be wrong. It took years of many health crisis and yo-yo dieting before I committed to a lifestyle change.
In 2014 I began a program for holistic nutrition consultant at Bauman College. While juggling being a Mom, wife, therapist and student was an incredible challenge, I am super proud to say I completed my coursework with honors earning a GPA of 98.74. Currently I am studying to complete board certification through NANP - National Association of Nutrition Professionals.
More recently I went to Nosara, Costa Rica for what was a life changing trip. I attended Ashely Black's Fascia Advancement Academy for a certification in Fasciablasting and ended up falling in love with the people of Costa Rica and its beautiful land. The techniques and knowledge I gained on the body's fascia system will change the lives for so many as we can begin to heal formerly chronic conditions that were just "managed". This is by far one of the most exciting hands on techniques I have learned since attending massage therapy college nearly 30 years ago!
I am blessed with a beautiful family, a wonderful home and a successful practice. I bring not only my formal education into my treatment offerings, but all of my personal experience as well. It is very likely I have been exactly where you are right now. I have been overweight, sick with multiple autoimmune conditions, survived sepsis, and suffered from Lyme disease. I have been through the struggles of having a very sick child, kids with allergies and a husband that has faced the challenges of 9/11 related illness. During my 30+ years as a health care provider I have treated people with all kinds of illness from cancer, to MS; injuries to degenerative disease; chronic migraines, gastrointestinal issues, depression, thyroid dysfunction, skin conditions and so much more.
If you are looking for massage therapy, nutritional counseling, fasciablasting or any combination of services it would be my honor and privilege to work with you.
