    What is Plasma Fibroblast Therapy?

What is plasma? Plasma is the 4th state of matter (Solid, Liquid, Gas, Plasma). Plasma is a cloud of protons, neutrons and electrons where all the electrons have come loose from their respective molecules and atoms, giving the plasma the ability to act as a whole rather than as a bunch of atoms. A plasma is more like a gas than any of the other states of matter because the atoms are not in constant contact with each other, but it behaves differently from a gas.

What is Plasma Fibroblast Therapy? Plasma fibroblast therapy is a non-surgical treatment used to achieve incredible skin tightening results. We use a device (Plamere Plasma Pen) to generate plasma and target it with very high precision to the desired areas. Using plasma fibroblast therapy we can shrink, tighten and reduce the volume of excess skin. Results can be seen immediately, even during treatment, but will continue to improve over 12 weeks.

Plasma Fibroblast, is a non-invasive anti-aging procedure that rejuvenates and refreshes your skin. The procedure takes anywhere from 30 minutes for a small area up to 2 hours.  It will stimulate the production of collagen. Prior to the treatment, a topical anesthetic is applied to the targeted area of skin. The fibroblast procedure involves the use of a small, handheld tool that delivers a small electrical arc to the skin creating a controlled micro-trauma to the skin. This micro-trauma stimulates new collagen and helps release and activate essential proteins and growth factors like cytokines and fibroblasts, which makes more collagen than before it was disrupted.  As a result, the targeted skin tissue shrinks and retracts, revealing tighter, and the new collagen will support the skins structure for years to come, giving you a more youthful skin with improved elasticity.

    Fibroblast F A Qs

What skin types are good candidates for Plasma Fibroblast?

If you are seeking a non-surgical solution to address visible signs of aging, this treatment may be right for you. The treatment works best on light to medium complexions. Darker skin tones (African American, African, Latin, Native American, Indian, Middle Eastern, Asian ancestry and people of mixed ethnicities) may not be good candidates for Plasma Pen. Patients with very dark skin have a higher risk of hyperpigmentation (dark spots) or hypo-pigmentation (light spots) following treatment.  For that reason, this procedure is not recommended and Westtown Wellness; Jessica Briecke L.M.T., N.C. will not provide Plasma Fibroblast treatment to anyone that is a 4-6 on the Fitzpatrick Skin Scale as shown in the image.

Westtown Wellness and Jessica Briecke, L.M.T., N.C. is dedicated to safe and effective treatments for anyone that meet medical and skin type standards.

As with any other cosmetic procedure, it is important to determine whether or not you are a good candidate for the specific treatment. Fibroblast is appropriate for virtually anyone who wants to enjoy the benefit of tighter skin that is radiant and youthful. Individuals who have eczema, psoriasis, and other skin conditions should speak with a doctor to determine eligibility for the procedure. Those who use skin care products that contain alpha hydroxy acid, vitamin A (such as Retin-A®) or glycolic acid may need to stop using them for a short time prior to the procedure. If you have acne-prone skin, then you should exercise caution when considering a plasma treatment.

Both men and women over the age of 21 can be candidates for the treatments listed above.

    PLASMA FIBROBLAST CONTRAINDICATIONS:

    • Pregnant/breastfeeding
    • Metal plates , pins or other implants
    • Cardio-vascular deficiencies including severe uncontrolled blood pressure
    • Pacemaker or any other medical device with an electrical current
    • Current or recent hemorrhage
    • Malignancy and chemotherapy in the past 3 years.
    • If you are susceptible to hypertrophic scarring or keloid formation
    • If you suffer from auto-immune disease or other illnesses which affect the immune system

What downtime can I expect after my Plasma Pen treatment?

There IS some downtime. “Downtime” is very subjective.  What you think “looks bad” and/or is “uncomfortable” can be very different from someone else’s perception. If you are comparing it to cosmetic surgery,  the downtime is minimal.

    • Redness, swelling and scabbing in the treatment area
    • Average of 8 days downtime on the face and neck areas
    • Average of 10 to 14 days on the body, depending on the area being treated and the intensity of the treatment
    • Swelling usually begins the day following your treatment, and peaks around day 3
    • After day 3, swelling subsides and scabs form.
    • Scabs normally begin to fall off around day 6 and 7 (for face and neck) longer for below the neck and extremities.

Please be aware that the days indicated are simply guidelines for average healing time. Healing time and results may be negatively compromised by not following the after care protocol: no direct sun exposure for 12 weeks, no drinking alcohol, no smoking and no picking/scratching/scrubbing. If your health is compromised in any way, this can also extend your healing time and negatively affect your results

What are the benefits of fibroblast?

The following benefits have been reported by individuals who have received a plasma treatment procedure:

    • Tightening of loose eyelid tissue
    • Reduction of fine wrinkles around the lips and eyes
    • Tightening of loose skin on the neck
    • Reduction of stretch marks and scars
    • Removal of moles and skin tags

By far, the best benefit of fibroblast treatments is that individuals can have similar results to plastic surgery without the painful recovery or downtime. Your skin will not be cut, and there will be no stitches or scars. The cost savings over cosmetic surgery is incredible, and you can return to work the same day as your procedure.

Is the Plasma Fibroblast Treatment Painful?

Plasma Pen is mildly to moderately uncomfortable. Everyone’s pain level is different and some areas of the body are more sensitive than others. Numbing cream is helpful in reducing the discomfort during treatment.

    What is Fibroblast?

Fibroblast, also referred to as a plasma treatment, is a non-invasive anti-aging procedure that rejuvenates and refreshes your skin. The procedure takes about 60 minutes and will stimulate the production of collagen and hydrate your skin. Prior to the treatment, a topical anesthetic is applied to the targeted area of skin. The fibroblast procedure involves the use of a small, handheld tool that delivers a small electrical arc to the skin. This current reaches all the way to the papillary skin layer, which contains fibroblast cells. With our state of the art Plasma Pen under our highly trained practitioners, we force the skin tissue to contract virtually immediately by thermally disrupting the skin as well as fibroblasts. This micro-trauma stimulates new collagen (neocollagenesis) and helps release and activate essential proteins and growth factors like cytokines and fibroblasts, which makes more collagen than before it was disrupted. Eventually, excess skin dries off to form tiny crusts that fall off like dandruff in just a few days. New collagen is formed over a period of up to 12 weeks.
As a result, the targeted skin tissue shrinks and retracts, revealing tighter, more youthful skin with improved elasticity

    What is the Plasma Pen?

Plasma Pen is the world’s most advanced, non-invasive, skin lifting, skin tightening and rejuvenation device used to treat wrinkles, and sagging, dull skin. The Plasma Pen is an FDA approved, CE approved device used to perform fibroblast therapy, a technique used to stimulate production of collagen in the skin.
The Plasma Pen has a small tipped applicator which emits an electrical discharge. About 1mm above the skin, oxygen and nitrogen are mixed, producing precise arcs of plasma which will be used to create a pinpoint, grid like pattern over the treatment area. This microtrauma will cause the top layers of the skin to contract and tighten. At the same time, heat is transmitted to the deeper levels, stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin fibers that diminish with age.

    What is the Plasma?

Plasma is the 4th state of matter (Solid, Liquid, Gas, Plasma). Plasma is a cloud of protons, neutrons and electrons where all the electrons have come loose from their respective molecules and atoms, giving the plasma the ability to act as a whole rather than as a bunch of atoms. A plasma is more like a gas than any of the other states of matter because the atoms are not in constant contact with each other, but it behaves differently from a gas.

Is there pain after the treatment?

Some patients experience a heat sensation in the treatment area, equivalent to sunburn discomfort. Scabbing occurs with the healing process and can last an average of 5 to 7 days. Itching is also common as the skin heals

When will I see results of the Plasma treatment?

Some immediate tightening will be evident. Gradual improvement will occur over a period of 12 weeks. Although one treatment is usually all that is needed, sometimes a second treatment may be required depending on desired results. Results can last approximately three years, but in some cases can be permanent. It is important to remember that aging continues, therefore future treatments may be performed as maintenance

What aftercare do I need to do at Home?

Immediately after treatment there may be a slight burning sensation. This is perfectly normal and will usually disappear during the remainder of the day. Some people find this uncomfortable or persistent, and if this happens, an anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen is suggested.

Following treatment, it is normal to have some swelling. The inflamed areas can be more pronounced around the eyes, and the swelling can last for up to 5 days, depending on the individual’s healing process. By the fifth day, the swelling should be noticeably reduced or gone completely.

A cold compress may be applied to reduce the swelling.

Crusting will usually develop over the treated area; this will often initially be brown on the surface of the skin and will flake off over the following days. It may take over 2 weeks to completely disappear. It is essential NOT to pick at this crusting as this may lead to infection or scarring.

Occasionally the treated area may become a little weepy, but please don’t panic! This is all part of the normal healing process and will improve with time. Good hygiene is essential to prevent cross-contamination and infection.

It is essential to keep the treatment area clean, dry and protected with broad spectrum sunscreen.

    DO NOT use alcohol-based cleansers.
